A spectacular 180km of mountain roads, dropping briefly to the plains before climbing again to Kodaikanal.

Kodaikanal Lake and the Silver Cascade falls, then a 120km ride down to Madurai, one of India's oldest living cities and its great Meenakshi temple.

A big 260km day across the plains and up into the Nilgiris, the blue mountains, to the quiet hill town of Coonoor.
"The climb to Coonoor is a set of famous hairpins — thirty-six numbered bends. Coonoor is the calmer, prettier neighbour to Ooty."
The bikes go ahead by road while you take the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway — the toy train — up to Ooty.
"The blue toy train, a UNESCO World Heritage line, climbs on a rack-and-pinion through tea and forest — a lovely half-day off the saddle."
Ride down to Bandipur National Park, a tiger reserve in the Western Ghats, with a shared safari in search of its wildlife.

A 100km ride into Wayanad on a road that winds through dense, verdant forest — one of the loveliest stretches of the whole journey.

A 190km ride back towards the coast to Guruvayur, one of Kerala's most revered temple towns.

A 150km ride to Alleppey and the backwaters, with an afternoon cruise on Lake Vembanad through the palm-fringed canals.

A 125km ride to Varkala, a coastal gem of red cliffs above the Arabian Sea.
"Varkala's red laterite cliffs drop straight to the beach — the mineral spring at Papanasam is said to wash away sins, and the sunset from the cliff path is the day's reward."
