Meghauli Serai opened in 2016 on the bank of the Rapti river, on the quieter Meghauli side of Chitwan National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage site and the best place in the subcontinent to see greater one-horned rhinoceros.
Twenty-nine rooms and villas face across the river into the park's grassland and salSalA tall hardwood tree that forms the dominant forest of central and northern India.Read in the glossary forest, so wildlife is visible from the property itself. The infinity pool looks the same way, and on clear days the Himalaya show above the treeline.
Why We Place Guests Here
- The Meghauli side is the quiet one — Sauraha's elephant-back crowds are on the other end of the park.
- Rooms that look into the park across a river mean the game viewing does not stop when the drive does.
- Chitwan is documented at over six hundred bird species, and the lodge's naturalists work it properly; canoe trips on the Rapti are the best of it.
The Table
- Bada Ghar Dinner — multi-cuisine, in the Tharu 'large home' manner
- Rapti Kinara — riverside deck, candlelit sekuwa barbecue
- Tharu Village Dinner
The Elevated India Signature
The dawn canoe on the Rapti, drifting down past the rhino coming to drink.
