Fisherman's Cove opened in 1974 on the ramparts of the old Covelong fort, thirty kilometres south of Chennai on the East Coast Road. The fort's gatehouse and watch tower still stand in the grounds.
Forty-eight acres of garden run down to a private stretch of sand, with rooms, cottages and nine seafront villas stepping toward the water. The outlook is straight east over the Bay of Bengal, with the local boats working the beach at dawn.
Why We Place Guests Here
- It turns the Chennai–Mamallapuram transfer into a stay — the UNESCO monuments are twenty kilometres south, the city thirty north.
- The private beach is a genuine one, which on this coast is rarer than it sounds.
- Dinner for two in the historic watch tower is a real piece of theatre, and the hotel runs it properly.
The Table
- Seagull — multi-cuisine
- Bay View — coastal
- Upper Deck — European
- Sun Burst Bar
The Elevated India Signature
The Watch Tower dinner — two covers only, inside the fort's own tower, with the sea underneath.
