The game arrived here early — the Royal Calcutta Golf Club was founded in 1829, the first outside Great Britain — and it never left. Today the country holds championship layouts by Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, parkland courses threaded with Mughal tombs, and mountain fairways among the highest in the world.

The First Green
The Royal Calcutta Golf Club is the oldest golf club in India — and the first ever founded outside Great Britain.

Gulmarg in Kashmir sits among the highest green golf courses on earth, on an alpine meadow beneath the Pir Panjal.
The Viceroy's Round
Naldehra, above Shimla, was laid out under Lord Curzon — among the oldest courses in the country, and still played today.

The Courses, by Region
Most of India's finest courses are private members' clubs. We secure tee times and guest introductions where each course permits, and handle the rest end to end — chauffeured transfers between hotel and clubhouse, caddies, club hire or shipment, and a curator on call throughout. Play is arranged; it is never presented as a right we cannot deliver.
October to March is the season across the plains and the south — dry, clear and temperate, ideal for the Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Bengaluru courses. The Himalayan fairways of Naldehra and Gulmarg reverse the calendar, playing best from late spring through summer, when the snow has cleared the meadows.
