The city is almost always given a single night, and that single night is usually mishandled. Arrive in the afternoon, and the whole calculation changes: you take the Taj at sunset from the far bank, sleep with the dome in the window, and enter at the eastern gate before the coaches. Most visitors see the monument. The point is to see the light move across it.

Give Agra an afternoon and a following dawn rather than a rushed day trip from Delhi. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, and the moonlight viewings run only on five nights around each full moon — both need to be designed into the route, not discovered on arrival.
